Blackwood Crossing is a story-driven adventure game. The game explores the relationship between orphaned siblings Scarlett and Flynn in a fantasty setting.

The game was developed by Paper Seven and published on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam. It has earned many positive reviews, including some which highlighted the facial animation.

In a review for Polygon, Colin Campbell said “Outstanding facial animations and voice-acting give us a child who is mercifully sympathetic…”

Paper Seven tasked Speech Graphics with animating dialogue for the main characters.

  1. Facial model setup

    We worked with Paper Seven on Finn’s character setup and rig to ensure that his animation would fit the artistic vision of the project.

  2. Animation production

    With SGX, our batch animation software, we animated facial motion and expressions for Finn’s dialogue over the course of the project.
